Bumpy bodies. A big hole punched through the side. These pearls can never become a glittering ring, and everyone calls them flawed. They draw fierce eyeliner, jam one hand in a pocket, walk with a swagger and bite off their words. But keeping up a mask is exhausting work: their jaws ache, their shoulders hurt from sleeping at an angle, and by three in the afternoon they drop off like stones.
